Why We Made It

A rich emollient body butter for very dry, delicate skin, for mothers, children and babies from 2 months, with cocoa, shea and mango butters and a warm sandalwood and sweet orange scent from essential oils. Made in small batches in Toronto.

Butter in Blue was created for dry, delicate skin and for the moments when the sensory world already feels full.

Cocoa, shea and mango butters form its deeply moisturizing base, joined by hemp, meadowfoam, oat, evening primrose, tamanu and carrot-root infused oil. The concentrated formula keeps dry skin soft, smooth and well moisturized while remaining versatile enough for baby, child and grown-up skin.

The texture is part of the formulation. Blue is whipped until light and silky so it spreads easily, melts on contact and gives enough glide for slow touch before sinking in. It leaves the skin soft and smooth rather than greasy. That silky, almost cushioning feeling on the skin is intentional.

Blue has a different sensory intention from Pink. When there has already been a lot of touch, noise, movement or activity, Blue is the butter I reach for when I want care to feel simpler and more contained. The warm sandalwood and soft sweet orange scent stay close to the skin, while the smooth texture and repeated touch create one familiar sensory experience rather than adding more.

This is part of the neurosomatic thinking behind Royal Heir skincare. Texture, touch and scent are considered together. With repetition, the familiar aroma can become an aromatic anchor connected to a feeling of steadiness, familiarity and being held within the ritual.

Can I use Butter in Blue instead of baby lotion?

Butter in Blue is a rich emollient body butter for very dry, delicate skin. You can use it where you would use a lotion or a baby oil, on babies from 2 months, on children and on grown-ups. It is whipped and water-free, so a small amount goes a long way. Because it carries essential oils, it begins at 2 months. For newborns, First Touch is the fragrance-free choice.

Made fresh in small batches and formulated by a former nurse and certified aromatherapist.

2
Turn It Into a Ritual

Apply a small amount directly to the skin. Butter in Blue is whipped to feel light, silky and easy to spread. It melts on contact, gives enough glide for slow touch and then sinks in, leaving the skin soft and smooth rather than greasy.

It is purposefully formulated for shared family care. Use it on baby’s body and around the diaper area, on children’s dry skin, and anywhere your own skin needs extra moisture. One butter for several bodies means fewer products, fewer competing scents and one familiar sensory experience returning again and again.

Blue is especially lovely after a busy day, after bath time, or whenever either of you has already taken in a lot. Keep the ritual simple. Slow the touch down. Let the smooth texture, the feeling of your hands on the skin and the quiet sandalwood-citrus scent be enough.

With repetition, that familiar scent can become an aromatic anchor for these quieter moments of care. The intention is not to add another sensation, but to keep the experience familiar, simple and contained.

A little goes a long way. Always patch test before first use.

3
Why is Butter in Blue made for the whole family?

Because family care can be simpler when one formula works across several bodies. Butter in Blue was made for baby’s dry skin and diaper area, children’s skin and the dry hands, feet and body of the grown-ups caring for them. One shared butter means fewer products to reach for, less clutter around you and fewer different scents layered through the same home. It also allows the same texture and scent to become familiar to everyone using it, which is part of the sensory thinking behind the formula.

4
Why is the butter whipped?

The whipped texture is part of the formula, not simply how it looks. Whipping makes Blue light, silky and easy to spread, with very little drag across the skin. It melts on contact, gives enough glide for slow touch and then sinks in without leaving a heavy or greasy finish. That smooth, cushioning feeling matters because Blue was designed to feel containing rather than stimulating. Texture, touch and scent all contribute to the experience.

5
Why is the scent so subtle?

I chose sandalwood and sweet orange because together they create a scent that feels warm, quiet and steady without becoming heavy. Babies have sensitive, developing sensory systems, so Blue is scented very lightly, using essential oils chosen for babies from about 2 to 3 months and kept within baby-safe dilution levels. The goal is not to perfume the skin or add another strong sensory input. The scent stays close to the body and becomes familiar with repeated use. Over time, that familiar sandalwood-citrus aroma can become an aromatic anchor connected to bath time, massage and other quiet moments of care. For Blue, the intention is containment: one familiar scent, one silky texture and one repeated ritual when the world around you already feels like a lot.
