Why We Made It

A postpartum sitz bath soak in pre-portioned sachets, with calendula, German chamomile, lavender, colloidal oatmeal and aloe, for the mother after birth and for baby from 2 to 3 months. A small sachet is for a sitz bath and a large one for a full bath.

Calendula + Chamomile Soak was created for the moments when care needs to come toward you.

Warm water already changes the experience of the body. It surrounds the skin, carries weight and moves gently against you without asking you to do anything in return. I wanted this soak to build on that simple sensory experience with botanicals traditionally used in gentle skin care.

Calendula, German chamomile, colloidal oatmeal and aloe are joined by mineral salts, clay and calendula-infused olive oil in a concentrated blend that leaves bathwater soft and the skin feeling smooth and cared for.

The sensory experience matters just as much as the ingredients. Warmth reaches the whole body at once. Water moves over the skin in a way hands cannot. The soft botanical scent stays close to the bath instead of filling the room.

For a new mother, that means care that does not depend on giving more. You can simply sit in the water and receive it. For a baby, bath time offers the same familiar combination of warmth, water, touch and the presence of the person holding them.

This is part of the neurosomatic thinking behind Royal Heir skincare. The temperature of the water, the movement against the skin, the gentle scent and the repetition of the ritual become one familiar sensory experience. Over time, the bath itself can become an anchor, a known place in the day where everything becomes a little quieter.

Made fresh in small batches and formulated by a former nurse and certified aromatherapist.

  • THE DETAILS
1
Ingredients

2
Turn It Into a Ritual

Add the soak to comfortably warm bathwater and stir until it disperses. Use one small sachet for a baby’s bath, a foot soak or a sitz bath, and one large sachet for a full bath.

Then let the water do some of the work.

Notice the warmth around your body and the movement of the water against your skin. There is nothing you need to perform while you are there. The sensation is already coming toward you.

With a baby, let bath time stay simple. Support their body in the warm water, move slowly and allow the gentle movement of the water, your hands and your voice to become part of the same familiar experience.

The soft calendula, chamomile and lavender aroma can become part of that rhythm too. Used again and again, the scent of the bath, the warmth and the feeling of water on the skin begin to belong together.

After bathing, pat the skin gently dry and follow with the Royal Heir butter that fits the moment, leaving a little moisture on the skin if you like before applying it.

Always patch test before first use and supervise babies and children closely around water.

3
What makes this different from putting dried herbs in the bath?

I wanted the experience of an herbal bath without asking a new mother to boil, steep, strain or clean herbs out of the tub afterward. The formula combines botanical extracts with finely dispersed ingredients that dissolve directly into warm water, while calendula petals keep some of the traditional beauty of an herbal soak. It gives you the ritual without adding another preparation job.

4
Why is this soak made for both mother and baby?

Because bath time can be a shared sensory language. Mother and baby are both taking in warmth, touch, movement, scent and sound. Using one gentle bath ritual keeps that experience simple rather than surrounding the two of you with several different products and fragrances. For the mother, the water offers something especially valuable: sensation she can receive rather than create. For the baby, the same bath can become familiar through repetition, especially when it is paired with the same scent, hands and rhythm each time.

5
Why calendula and chamomile?

Calendula and chamomile have a long history in traditional skin and bathing preparations, especially when gentle care is wanted. Here, I use calendula petals, calendula infused in olive oil and German chamomile extract alongside colloidal oatmeal and aloe. I also chose them because they belong naturally to the kind of ritual I wanted this bath to become: warm, simple and quiet. Nothing sharp. Nothing demanding. A botanical bath that feels gentle enough to return to again and again.

A mother with long blonde hair tenderly holds a baby in a warm, golden outdoor setting. The woman is wearing a white top, and the baby is dressed in a light cream outfit.
